On 9 November, Minister-president Jan Jambon held online consultations with Lehendakari Iñigo Urkullu, Minister-president of the Basque Country, and with Arantxa Tapia, Minister for Economic Development, also responsible for digitisation.
Flanders and the Basque Country signed a Declaration of Intent on 1 June 2015. This declaration has already led to extensive cooperation in strategic areas such as the cultural and creative industries, tourism and climate change.
The Ministers-president expressed the wish to continue and extend this excellent cooperation through a new declaration. The theme of digitisation and ICT in particular was addressed.
Both Minister-President Jambon and Minister Tapia are convinced that digitisation is of crucial importance within the current recovery programmes of the Flemish and Basque governments and that much can be learned from each other. Certainly in the area of cyber security, increasing the digital skills of the population, and connectivity in regard to the 5G network.
