Flanders’ and the Netherlands’ activities at last year’s Frankfurter Buchmesse were a great success, according to the evaluation report the Flemish and Dutch literature funds published on 1 March.
Under the motto “This is what we share” the Netherlands and Flanders were the guests of honor of at the largest book fair in the world, the Frankfurter Buchmesse 2016. This ambitious programme paid off. More than 450 Dutch books were translated, the number of literary translations in German tripled and a new generation of authors was introduced to the German public.
Minister Gatz: "In Flanders we look back with great satisfaction and pride on the Flemish-Dutch cooperation at the Frankfurt Book Fair. Not only because of the outstanding results our literary funds have achieved. But also for the new impetus this successful collaboration had of our Dutch literature and for Flemish-Dutch cultural cooperation as a whole. "
